TWiA Gathering in the Cloud

As our 2020 Gathering has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 environment, we have decided to take the opportunity to invite all our members to join us for a Gathering in the Cloud. 

We invite all TWiA members to join us for an celebration of the resilience, capacity and capability of women in Agriculture in Tasmania. If you are not a current TWiA member, you may still attend this event by becoming one. Our annual membership fee is $20 and will expire for new members on 30th June 2021. Pip Courtney

Host @ ABC Landline

Pip became the host of Landline in 2012 after joining the program in 1993. The daughter of well-known Tasmania print journalist and editor Michael Courtney, she joined the ABC as a cadet in Hobart in 1986. 

After beginning her career in news, she combined her love of journalism and agriculture when she joined Landline, moving to Brisbane in 2003. 

Pip has won numerous awards for her agricultural journalism including a Queensland Media Award for Excellence in Rural Journalism, the Rabobank Star prize for rural broadcasting (Qld), the National Rabobank Star prize and the International Star Prize for Rural Broadcasting for her 2011 two-part feature on the coal seam gas industry in Queensland. 

In 2018 Pip was inducted in the Queensland Press Club’s Rural Journalism Hall of Fame.

Todd Babiak

CEO @ Brand Tasmania

Todd is from Canada. He likes Tasmania, hummus, France, rock climbing, Mexico, dogs, and business. 

Todd is CEO of Brand Tasmania, an organisation that both promotes this extraordinary island state and encourages and inspires Tasmanians. 

He previously co-founded a strategy company called STORY ENGINE. It has two subsidiaries, one for place-branding and one for raising money. 

Minister Guy Barnett

Minister for Primary Industries and Water @ Tasmanian State Parliament

Born and raised on a farm in the electorate of Lyons, attending Hagley Farm School, Guy Barnett has been advocating for the needs of rural and regional Tasmanians for most of his life. Guy gained a law degree and Master of Laws at the University of Tasmania and has a track record of achievement both in business and in Parliament. 

After almost a decade representing Tasmania in the federal Senate, Guy was successfully elected to the Tasmanian State Parliament in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 with the highest Liberal vote in Lyons. 

Guy is Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Minister for Energy, Minister for Resources and Minister for Veterans' Affairs. Guy is also a Diabetes Australia Ambassador, a sports enthusiast and is married with three children.
